Suppliers & Partners

Nottingham’s LEP is the single point of contact for the procurement and delivery of all of the services likely to be required to rebuild or remodel Nottingham’s schools, ranging from design, construction, project management, maintenance, ICT and facilities management.

The LEP is integrating and managing a diverse range of supply chain sub contractors, from building contractors, FM services to ICT providers.

The LEP is giving as much work as possible to local companies rather than relying on bringing in expertise from other towns and cities.

Sub contractors have been selected on their locality and whether they employ a local labour force;

  • Approximately £28 million has been spent with companies with an NG postcode
  • Approximately £48 million has been spent with companies within a 50 mile radius of Nottingham City

--This equates to 27% and 47% respectively and amounts to a 73% regional spend which exceeded the initial target of 56%. [Information correct as of 7 July 2010]

Carillion Building are continually striving to better this and have developed and are operating a framework of local suppliers for site teams to select from. A number of operations have been single-sourced and where these agreements are in place they are only with companies who have an NG postcode.

Adam Telling, Managing Director of Telling Finishing’s Ltd said: “As a successful family-owned business in building fit-outs, we were forced to cut our turnover by 20 percent after the credit crunch which was difficult but achievable. We seized the opportunity to become an approved supplier to the BSF scheme which appeared to be the silver lining to the economic cloud and which gave us the hope and the opportunity for 40 percent of our annual turnover.”
